Serious Request is a project by Dutch radio station 3FM in which they collect money for projects of the Red Cross. Three DJs live in a house of glass for 7 days without anything to eat in this whole period. This year Serious Request is from dec. 18 until 24 dec in Leiden, Netherlands. The Colourful Apps donation period runs 3 days ahead.
Help a mother, save a family
The Serious Request theme this year is "Help a mother, save a family".
In at least twenty five countries in the world mothers are affected by war and conflict. Often they loose everything. They have to flee and are vulnerable to sexual violence. Away from home they have no food, no clean drinking water and no health care. By means of violence their husbands are often killed or missing, the house destroyed and the harvest failed. They stand alone in caring for their families.
Help by the Red Cross
The Red Cross helps these mothers with essential, basic things like shelter, medical assistance and relief goods such as food, water, soap and kitchen utensils. But also with earning their own income and retrieval of missing relatives, lost in the chaos.
Buy a Colourful App and support this cause
All revenues by Colourful Apps will be fully donated to this cause. To support this cause you simply buy an App for your iPhone / iPad or on your Mac.
The Colourful Apps Serious Request project runs from Thu dec. 15 until dec. 21, 2011 (CET) and includes the complete revenue (after the 30% Apple tax and/or VAT) of all items sold by Colourful Apps. Because of the christmas-closing of the AppStore and to allow for timely donations this operation runs 3 days ahead on the 3FM operation.
